![]() ![]() So I tore down my P320 Compact, removed the trigger, and packaged up the parts (Pro Tip: No need to send an assembled FCU to SIG for voluntary upgrade – you can send them the whole gun completely disassembled if you wish) and shipped it back to SIG. Alas for whatever reason, that didn’t work out. At one time, Grayguns was going to be able to do the voluntary upgrade themselves for PELT trigger owners, and install the PELT 2. The bummer for those of us who upgraded our triggers is that SIG doesn’t send you back your upgraded trigger parts – meaning if you wanted to keep your PELT trigger (in order to send it back to Grayguns for a free PELT II exchange), you’d need to return your P320 to stock configuration before sending it to SIG for the voluntary upgrade. ![]() But when Summer rolled around, I found myself mostly carrying my SIG P365 (easy to pocket carry with shorts) anyway so it seemed like a good time to send in my black P320 Compact to SIG for the voluntary upgrade process. As such, I was in no hurry to send in any of my firearms to do the voluntary upgrade. I’ve already gone on record as saying that I thought the whole drop safe issue was wildly and hugely overblown by the media. Awsome company that they are, they offered a free exchange program for owners of the PELT to upgrade to the PELT II. ![]() So Grayguns created the PELT 2 trigger, which will only work with P320s which have the new FCU design. ![]() Due to the changes SIG made in the FCU, the original PELT trigger would no longer work in any SIG which had been sent in for the voluntary upgrade, or P320s which came from the factory with the new FCU design changes already baked into the gun. Fast forward to the P320 drop-safe debacle, and the subsequent SIG Voluntary Upgrade program which allowed owners of SIG P320’s to send their firearms to SIG whereby SIG would modify these P320s to incorporate design changes to the fire control unit (FCU) to mitigate the drop safe issue. The Grayguns PELT trigger, by all accounts, did much more in the way reducing the weight of the factory trigger than the Apex trigger. Yes, Apex came out with a replacement trigger too, but that trigger reportedly did little to improve trigger pull and feel – it was more aesthetic. At the time, it was the only real option for SIG P320 owners looking for a replacement for the SIG factory trigger. In February of 2017, I reviewed the original PELT trigger from Grayguns, which I installed in three of my P320 firearms, including my P320 X-Five which I use for competition. ![]()
